Bible study 11 – Genesis 11

Noah’s descendants starts the construction of a tower, which God disrupts by giving the builders different languages. (I actually think this is a pretty cool prediction of the effects of de-globalization; it’s probably not a coincidence that our current world is experiencing accelerating globalization (people slowly converging on common languages, common cultural references and common thinking patterns), while we at the same time are doubling our GDP (and therefore presumably our ability to build really tall towers) every 15 years or so.)

A long list of Noah’s descendants through his son Shem follows, ending with Abram and his wife Sarai (they will change names to Abraham and Sarah later) and Abram’s nephew Lot.
