Bible study 188 – Joshua 2Posted: April 10, 2017
Joshua sends two men to spy out the lands across the Jordan river, and they proceed straight to a prostitute’s house in nearby Jericho, apparently blurting out that they are Israelite spies to everyone on their way. The king of Jericho tries to capture them, but the prostitute (Rahab) saves them. In exchange, she asks the invading Israelites to spare her and her family. I don’t know why she thinks this would work — the Israelites haven’t spared many women and children so far — but the two spies agree to this, and travel back to Joshua with the little information they have gathered.
… So they went, and entered the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and spent the night there.
