Bible study 197 – Joshua 11Posted: April 19, 2017
The rest of the kingdoms in Canaan gather to fight the Israelites, but are defeated in battle. So Joshua and his men can proceed unhindered through the northern parts of Canaan, kill every single human there, and burn the cities. They are able to do this because God once again “hardens the hearts” of their enemies, so that they will fight instead of running away or suing for peace (which makes Deuteronomy 20’s promise not to destroy cities that sue for peace sort of empty).
And Joshua did to them as the Lord commanded him; he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.
